Pedaling for a cause

Pedal for Kids is a week-long fundraising event that invites companies, community groups and individuals to raise funds for The Children's. The week of the event, each team takes a ride on the Mighty Bike, a custom-made bicycle built for 30, to celebrate their success. The ride lasts about one hour, traveling through the busiest streets of downtown Montreal. With music blaring, people cheering and a police escort leading the way, a Pedal for Kids ride is truly an unforgettable experience.

Pedal for Kids 2010
With 1000 participants representing some 35 organizations and businesses pedaling through downtown Montreal, the 2010 edition of Pedal for Kids was a huge success, raising $670,000. Since its inception in 1992, Pedal for Kids has raised more than $8 million to purchase medical equipment and fund special environmental projects, to ensure the best care for our patients.

Our spokesperson: Marie-Caroline
This year, 15-year-old Marie-Caroline Dutton-Godard is the spokesperson for Pedal for Kids. After being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in 2007, she has fought courageously in spite of difficult odds. Although her battle continues, this remarkable young woman has generously decided to lend her voice and her spirit to Pedal for Kids, in the hopes of making a difference for other sick children. Marie-Caroline truly exemplifies the reasons why so many riders, sponsors and donors support Pedal for Kids.

Join the fun!

Participate as a Team
To participate as a team, gather 15 (half bike) or 30 (full bike) people to ride the Mighty Bike next June, contact the Foundation, and get ready to start raising funds! In addition to collecting pledges online at www.pedalez.com, each team has their own unique way of fundraising – from tricycle races, to dinners and dancing. Teams in their first year should aim to raise $10,000 or more. Pedal for Kids 2011 will be held in mid-June - exact dates to be confirmed soon.

Participate as an Individual
Individual participants are invited to take part in our community ride, a very special ride led by one of The Children's young patients. The recommended fundraising goal for individuals to ride the Mighty Bike is $300 or more.
